The “cellular switch” habit most people activate far too often

Ageing happens, of course. The question is, how fast?

Scientists studying longevity have discovered that cells constantly respond to signals that can speed up or slow down parts of the ageing process.

One of the most studied signals is the mTOR pathway, sometimes described as the cellular growth switch.

When this pathway activates at the right times, it helps tissues repair and rebuild.

But when we switch it on too often, researchers believe it actively pushes cells to age faster.

So what are the triggers that switch on mTOR?

Spoiler: Most people activate one of the main triggers every day.
